How Do We Use Technology to Explore the Science of Craft?

How Do We Use Technology to Explore the Science of Craft? - The Bright Angle

What did we do well?

We are able to turn a sketch into a finished piece with precision. We make vessels that work well. We facilitate collaborations. We make tools that work well.

Problem: It takes a long time to turn a sketch into a finished and resolved ceramic piece and creating new designs requires a lot of resources.

Our design studio was set up to keep each part of our process in house. It was set up to scale production, giving us the ability to respond to growing demand. Our designs are self aware, taking into consideration how they will be produced. We are able to combine mediums effectively because we use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and are able to use machines for prototyping.

We are able to move fluidly through projects. We have a firm understanding of ceramic materials paired with the knowledge and experience to structure tests. These tests are rooted in the scientific method so we can make materials perform how we need them to.

We have made high quality and innovative tabletop and home decor products meant to work well and look elegant. We are able to work with clients on custom projects.

We are good at problem solving and asking the right questions. We have focused our last couple of years on establishing our value and what we do well. I myself have gained extensive experience in 3d modeling and prototyping.

Problem: Too much diversification - not enough focus!

Our ceramic production studio is set up to make porcelain vessels. We have developed a porcelain recipe that glows. We believe in illuminating dark spaces.
